A Look at Mouse Pads

Mouse pads have sort of lost their importance since the dawn of the laser mouse, but they still have many uses. It is important to know how your mouse works before you buy a pad. If it's a laser mouse, do not get a semitransparent mouse pad, or the laser will flicker around. Are you a high sensitivity player? Then get a large mouse pad might not be so necessary.

I use the func 1030 with my Logitech G9. It has a rough surface that I really like. The difference between a good mouse pad and a bad one is how well the mouse slides and how accurate the laser works with the surface. It is really important to have a mouse pad that does not cause your mouse to stick when trying to move.

There are many brands out there, but the most highest noted ones are Razer, func, and Steel Series. Many of the most expensive pads can reach around $100. I really doubt any notable difference between a $50 and a $100 pad.

Mouse pads are important mostly if you are an fps player. If you use wide, low sensitivity mouse swipes, then consider getting a larger mouse pad. A pad is just one more thing to give you the edge and make you more imba.
